Ohio State Football: What an NFL team full of Buckeyes would look like
By Ben Swanger
DEs: Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa, Sam Hubbard, Dre’mont Jones, Tyquan Lewis, John Simon, Chase Young
This group, if together in the NFL, would be the best defensive end unit in the league. The Bosa brothers have both won Defensive Rookie of the Year awards.
Sam Hubbard is coming off an 8.5 sack season with the Bengals. Dre’Mont Jones had 3.5 sacks and three TFLs as a rookie. Tyquan Lewis is a nice rotational piece for the Indianapolis Colts, John Simon is a Super Bowl champion, and Chase Young was touted as the best player in the 2020 NFL Draft.
DTs: Cameron Heyward, Johnathan Hankins, Jashon Cornell, Davon Hamilton, Jalyn Holmes
The interior linemen are just as vicious. Cameron Heyward bounces inside and outside for the Steelers and has established himself as one of the most respected men in the entire league. In nine seasons Heyward has 54 sacks. Johnathan Hankins has been a solid rational piece the past couple years and Jashon Cornell, Davon Hamilton, and Jalyn Holmes’ careers are just taking off.
LBs: Raekwon McMillan, Jerome Baker, Malik Harrison
Raekwon McMillan and Jerome Baker are teammates in Miami. The two combined for nearly 200 total tackles in 2019. Add rookie Malik Harrison to the mix you’ve got a great core of linebackers.
After two more first round corners were selected in this year’s draft, it should be stamped: Ohio State is Defensive Back University.
