Ohio State Football: Buckeyes drafted, pros and cons
By Jay Wilhelm
The lone Buckeye taken in the second round was running back J.K Dobbins at No. 55 to the Baltimore Ravens. He was our first surprise having went later than expected.
His strong compact body shape is probably his best asset.
He runs low with squared shoulders and always moves forward. To gain more yards at the second level in the NFL he will need to work on creating more moves in traffic and to make professional defenders miss.
Defensive Tackle Davon Hamilton was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round at pick No. 73. One of his best strengths is the speed of which he can get up field into the backfield in a hurry. He will need to get better at using his hands to make more of an impact at the next level.
The Detroit Lions made their second Ohio State selection with the 75th overall pick choosing guard Jonah Jackson. He struggles to use his leverage which will be needed greatly in the NFL.
He does have really good footwork and sliding ability which will be a huge help in pass protection.
The Baltimore Ravens joined in the multiple Buckeye party as they chose their second of this draft by taking lineback Malik Harrison at No. 98. He has experience playing each linebacker spot and his downhill play makes him get after the line of scrimmage.
He struggles in man coverage and a lot of that is due to taking incorrect angles to the ball.
