Seven Ohio State football players were chosen in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft but the three picked in the last two could be steals.

Plenty of Ohio State football players were hearing their names called during the first three rounds in this year’s NFL Draft. Only three more Buckeyes were drafted afterward and none before the sixth round.

At least a couple of them could be steals in the draft, and possibly all three.

  • S Jordan Fuller, sixth round L.A Rams (199)
  • WR K.J. Hill, seventh round (220) LA Chargers
  • DT Jashon Cornell, seventh round (235) Detroit Lions

Prior to the draft it appeared Jordan Fuller would slip to the third day with the evaluations I read on the safety, I thought he would be a fourth or fifth round pick. To say I was surprised when he dropped to the sixth round would be an understatement.

Fuller performed well for the Buckeyes and his numbers were solid, if not spectacular. The safety registered 216 tackles and had 5 interceptions during his four years at Ohio State.

I think the Rams will be glad Fuller dropped to the sixth round.

The situation with the next Buckeye taken is a head scratcher. How in the world did K.J. Hill drop to the seventh round?

There was no better route runner in college football and I doubt another receiver had better hands.

I get it, K.J. isn’t one of the fastest receivers in the draft. But out of the slot he can still get deep because he is a move-man who can make defensive backs look foolish. He will also make general managers look foolish for passing on him.

K.J. may be the steal of this year’s draft.

Jashon Cornell may have dropped so low because he was such a versatile player for defensive line coach Larry Hohnson. He moved from tackle to end and back inside.

He played wherever he was needed but as a result wasn’t a stat stuffer. I have a feeling he will make a very good impression on the Detroit coaching staff when he comes to camp.

dark. Next. Justin Fields could be No. 1 draft pick in 2021

Well, those are the last of the Buckeyes taken in the 2020 NFL Draft. I think the Rams. Chargers and Lions will be glad these players slipped to them late in the draft.
