Ohio State Football: Good situations for Day 2 draft picks
Three Ohio State football players were chosen in the first day of the NFL Draft and four more were taken in the next two rounds.
The Ohio State football team was well represented in the first day of the NFL draft and four more were selected on Day 2. I looked at the situations of each of the first round picks earlier so now let’s look at those of Buckeyes chosen in the second and third rounds.
RB J.K. Dobbins, Baltimore Ravens, RB (55):
I thought Dobbins would be chosen earlier in the second round but the Ravens have to be glad he slipped to the No. 55 pick. I think this is one of the steals in the draft as Lamar Jackson and J.K. will make life miserable for opposing defenses with the read option.
Now for Buckeyes chosen in the third round.
DT Davon Hamilton, Jacksonville Jaguars (73):
This is a good fit, Jacksonville was No. 24 in total defense and 28th against the run. Hamilton was a stopper in the middle of the line for the Buckeyes so he will get his chances to see if he can be one for the Jaguars early on.
OG Jonah Jackson, Detroit Lions (75):
Quite simply put, I think Jackson is a good fit for any team who wants an offensive guard who has the potential to play for a decade in the league. The leadership and blocking skills he brought to the Ohio State football team last season as a grad transfer was off the chart.
Certainly a great value pick for the Lions.
LB Malik Harrison, Baltimore Ravens (98):
Has Baltimore had any outstanding linebackers the last couple of decades? I have a feeling Malik may be the next.
He is 6 ft. 3, 240 pounds and athletic. I can see Harrison becoming a star in John Harbaugh’s defense.
There you have it, Buckeyes drafted in Day 2. It looks as though they fell into good situations. Next I’ll look at late round picks.
