The Ohio State football team and Ryan Day secured another top 50 recruit yesterday. The head coach and his staff are proving to be elite.

Head coach Ryan Day and his staff are head and shoulders above the rest of the Big Ten. And with the recruiting class coach Day is putting together for the 2021 recruiting cycle, he may just be one of the best coaches in America.

On Wednesday afternoon, four-star defensive end and top 50 national recruit Tunmise Adeleye of Bradenton, Florida announced his commitment to Ohio State. He chose the Buckeyes over programs such as Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma.

With Ryan Day securing Adeleye’s commitment, Ohio State’s No. 1 recruiting class for 2021 grew an even larger lead over No. 2 Clemson. And with the Buckeyes still in the hunt for at least five other top 100 recruits, the sky is the limit for coach Day and this recruiting class.

Even former head coach Urban Meyer never had a No. 1 overall recruiting class during his time in Columbus. But with Ryan Day at the helm, this class could be one like we have never seen before for the Scarlet and Gray.

Day has benefited from coach Meyer’s staff that was put in place long before he became head coach. Top recruiters such as Tony Alford, Larry Johnson, Brian Hartline and Greg Studrawa were all Urban Meyers hires. But coach Day, an elite recruiter in his own right as he was the one who got five-star quarterback Kyle McCord, made some excellent hires along the way.

Former defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley and now returned defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs have been home run hires. Linebackers coach Al Washington and special teams coach Matt Barnes have also played roles in landing some of these top recruits.

Next. OSU not even close to being RBU?. dark

If Ryan Day and his staff can recruit like this over the long haul, the Ohio State football program will continue to be elite for years to come and national titles should follow suit.
