A successful college program must have strong recruiting efforts year after year. The Ohio State football team has consistently been one of the best in the country, while the Michigan Wolverines continue to struggle.

2020 has been a great year for Ohio State recruiting. The Buckeyes recently landed 5-star recruit TreVeyon Henderson after a slew of top rated guys committing to play in Scarlet and Gray.

Recruiting hit a new high when Urban Meyer came and turned the Buckeyes into a national recruiting powerhouse. Ryan Day has only elevated the bar and is on pace to bring in an historically great class of 2020.

This is where Ohio State separates from Michigan.

We all know the Buckeyes have dominated this series for years, and with the way the two teams recruit it does not look like it is going to end anytime soon. Currently Ohio State has the best recruiting class in the country. Michigan comes in at 17.

The bigger difference is that Michigan is 6th in the Big Ten. Sitting behind Ohio State, Wisconsin, Maryland, Iowa and Rutgers. It’s not good to be behind Rutgers in football.

One year in recruiting may not make a big difference. However, from 2011-2020 Michigan has only had a better class than Ohio State once. And that was last year when the Buckeyes only took 17 total commitments.

Since Urban Meyer and Ryan Day have been at the helm, they have dominated that team up north every November. While there is certainly play-calling and preparation that goes into this success, both Meyer and Day have beaten the Wolverines on the recruiting trail.

Don’t expect that to lessen this year as Ohio State has such a huge lead over Michigan in recruiting. It would take a Goliath type effort for the Wolverines to pass the Buckeyes.

Next. Time for Jim Tressel to be honored. dark

And as long as Ohio State is winning by such wide margins on the recruiting trail, you can expect similar results every November.
