Ohio State got the ball to start the second overtime and jumped out quickly.  Lydell Ross rushed for a nine-yard pickup and then Krenzel used his powerful body to sneak it for a gain of five and a first down.

He then found Jenkins for a six-yard gain and they finished the drive strong with Maurice Clarett breaking a tackle and diving in for a five-yard touchdown.

With the score 31-24, Miami had to look at the now and not what happened during the last overtime.  Miami drove down all the way to the Buckeyes one-yard line.

Instead of running the football, Dorsey dropped back, was pressured and threw an incomplete pass ending the game with a final score of 31-24

The Ohio State Buckeyes, who just a few years previously was an under-achieving team in the Big Ten, had finally gotten back to the top of the mountain. They finished with an undefeated 14-0 record, and the teams first national title since 1970.

The Buckeyes won their last championship during the 2014 season and have been in the playoffs three times (2014, 2016, 2019).  Meanwhile, the Miami Hurricanes have been up and down since, but with second-year coach Manny Diaz and Houston transfer D’Eriq King, they may be on track to become a national contender once again.
