With the outstanding coaching staff on the Ohio State football team it’s no surprise the 2021 recruiting class is loaded with talent.

Five Ohio State football coaches are ranked among the top 10 recruiters and another is in the top 25. That’s what happens when great coaching and recruiting meet.

Urban Meyer always liked to say it’s not what you tell a recruit it’s what you can prove. Ryan Day and his staff certainly have proof they can coach players up and send them to the NFL.

Let’s first look at the offensive assistants in this article beginning with the hottest recruiter in college football.

Brian Hartline was the No. 1 recruiter in 2020 and once again holds the top spot with four outstanding commits in this recruiting cycle.

Assistant coaches recruit players to their unit but also cover certain regions. Not surprisingly though three of his four recruits in the 2021 class are ones who will be involved in the passing game.

Let’s look at how coach Hartline has coached up his receivers during his two years on the job.

His first season Parris Campbell had 90 receptions for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns. Terry McLaurin caught 35 passes for 701 yards and 11 scores. Campbell was a 2nd round NFL draft pick and McLaurin was chosen in the 3rd round.

K.J. Hill had 127 receptions for 1,521 yards and 16 touchdowns the last two seasons. He will probably be a 2nd round pick, Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor may be drafted as well.

Who wouldn’t want to be coached up by this former NFL wide receiver. Now a look at two other assistant coaches and one is nipping at coach Hartline’s heels for the No. 1 spot.
