Ohio State football coaches have not been slowed by the inability to meet with recruits in person. Recently the Buckeyes have added four outstanding ones to an already loaded 2021 class.

Ryan Day has put his stamp on the Ohio State recruiting machine, and has elevated the program to #1 in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

And it’s not even close.

In the past week, the Buckeyes have added 4-star CB, Jakailin Johnson, 3-star CB, Devonta Smith, 4-star RB Evan Pryor and 4-star S/CB Andre Turrentine. What a haul.

Each of these players fills a huge area of need for the Buckeyes and come without any of the drama the 2020 class provided.

Ohio State needed to have two top rated running backs in this class to start to build depth in the RB room. Last year the RB commitment did not come until late in the class, after multiple top prospects turned away from the Buckeyes at the last minute.

This year, Ohio State has locked up a top RB in March and still has their sights set on other great recruits.

The three new recruits in the defensive backfield are essential in bringing quality talent in the secondary. After losing Jordan Fuller, Damon Arnette and Jeff Okudah to the NFL Draft, the Buckeyes have gaps in the secondary.

Finding three quality prospects this early in the recruiting cycle means that the Buckeyes can target more top talent without the fear of not having enough players to fill out the class.

Currently, the Buckeyes are well ahead of the rest of the field in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Holding a commanding lead over #2 Clemson by over 40 points puts Ohio State in the drivers seat, with just about half the class still needed to be signed.

Kerry Coombs has been incredibly busy since being hired back by the Buckeyes, giving fans plenty to root for well before fall football comes around.
