Ohio State football: Hated teams to fuel offseason workouts
SEC
The conference has won six out of last 10 national championships and 11 out of the last 20.
While I tend to believe the top teams in the all the other Power Five conferences would all do well in the SEC too, it is hard to deny that the SEC top to bottom is the best.
Do the SEC power brokers take advantage of the system? Absolutely.
I would also argue the other conferences taking the higher road in terms of scheduling is just stupid, especially if the goal is to put a team in the playoff every year.
At the end of the day, conference superiority means squat. There is only one champion. No trophies are given to teams for helping propel its champion to a title.
Still, the SEC faithful like to band together. If beating their champion means they share in the pain and suffering, that should provide extra incentive in off-season training.
Clemson
Five-straight appearances with two titles and two runner-ups make Clemson the best program in the playoff era.
That being said, Dabo Swinney’s aw schucks persona is painfully antiquated. It will feel good wiping the smug and righteous smile off his face while delivering a payback dagger.
For now though, the Tigers remain a distant fourth in terms of most hated.
