Former Ohio State football player Chase Young is rated as the best player in the draft by many pundits. Is there a chance that the Bengals trade down or select Young with the first overall pick?

Chase Young had an outstanding year and cemented himself as one of the greatest Ohio State football players to ever play on the defensive side of the ball. He turned heads all across the country with his performance last season.

Young is widely thought of as the best overall player in the 2020 draft, but since he does not play quarterback, most people are not giving him any chance to go No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals.

There are a few reasons the Bengals could surprise everyone and select the outstanding defensive end.

First is if Joe Burrow decides he does not want to play for Cincinnati. A story that has been circulated has it Burrow has told the Bengals to trade him because he will not play for them.

This is not looking very likely and chances are Joe Burrow does not demand his way out of Cincinnati.

Another option is for the Bengals to take the best player available, regardless of position. Many teams have found success taking the best player, rather than trying to force a position to happen at a certain slot.

The Bengals recent drafts show some instances of reaching for a player because it was a position of need, not because they were truly the best available. For a franchise that is struggling, taking the most sure-fire thing makes a lot of sense.

Along these same lines, Cincinnati may decide that they do not have the pieces for Joe Burrow to succeed. The offense line was viewed as one of the worst over the past few years and that adds a lot of pressure on a rookie quarterback.

Cincinnati may add the best player at the time in order to give their rookies the best chance to succeed. Regardless of what happens, Chase Young is making his case to be No.1.

He recently had this to say as reported by Eleven Warriors:

"“I definitely think I’m the best player in the draft. I think I showed it on my tape. You go to every game, I think I showed it. And I definitely think I put my best foot forward this year. I grinded hard. Two of my biggest things are hard work and dedication, and I’m going to bring those two to the NFL with me.”"

He believes he should end up playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. Do you think there is any chance the Bengals shock the world and do not select Joe Burrow?
