The Ohio State football team is busy preparing for the 2020 season. What are the three main questions that need to be answered in spring camp?

Spring practices and the annual Ohio State spring game is right around the corner for coach Ryan Day and this Buckeye squad. The 2020 season will bring high expectations as this Buckeye offense appears to be loaded with talent. There are however a few main questions that need to be answered as spring ball comes along.

No. 1: How will the right tackle position shake out?

There will be a fierce competition at the open right tackle position on this offensive line. The top three main competitors are Nicholas Petit-FrereDawand Jones and true freshman Parris Johnson.

Petit-Frere should get the first crack at this spot in spring ball, having been a former five-star recruit and most experienced player of this group. He also rotated in and out of the line up, along with Dawand Jones, early on in the 2019 season.

Jones was one of the most surprising freshman from last season. He is built like a tank and saw some regular playing time last season as a true freshman three-star recruit. The coaches love his attitude, and as long as he can keep his weight in check he should be a starter on this team sooner rather than later.

Parris Johnson comes in to Ohio State as one of it’s best all time recruits. A top ten national recruit for the 2020 class, Johnson has a real shot at starting as a true freshman.

Coach Day would not hesitate starting him if he is the best man for the job. Either way, Johnson is bound to see a lot of reps as the season goes along.

The upcoming spring practices will tell us a lot about how this competition is shaking out. Who will get reps with the first team? Who starts during the spring game? Will someone outright win the job in spring practices?

It will be fun to see how this positions progresses as we inch closer to the summer.
