The combination of Ryan Day and Justin Fields gives the Ohio State football team a considerable advantage in making the College Football Playoff again this year.

Other Important factors for year’s Ohio State football team having success are having a top defense and an abundance of depth. Of course the Buckeyes will have to avoid major injuries and catch a few breaks, but an elite quarterback and coach are imperative to winning the title.

Along with Ohio State, we know Clemson and Alabama will be in the mix again. That’s the easy prediction.

Trevor Lawrence will dominate the ACC.  No team is strong enough in the conference to stop their reign yet.

Mac Jones already showed he is capable of replacing Tua Tagovailoa, at least enough to get the Crimson Tide back in playoff. Oklahoma and Georgia both have the necessary pieces to get back into the playoff, but quarterback is still a question mark for both teams.

Spencer Rattler is the favorite to win the Sooners’ job. Given Lincoln Riley’s recent history, Rattler will put up monster numbers in his first season.

Jaime Newman transferred to Georgia from Wake Forest.  He passed for 2693 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2019, but struggled against better competition.

Schedule might trip the Bulldogs this year..  They play at Alabama in September. A loss won’t kill the season. It just leaves no room for error the rest of the way.

The more intriguing question is will there be another LSU?  A team that has been good and just needs a few tweaks to get over the hump.

Here are the two teams that I think have the best shot at surprising everyone by making the playoff and perhaps winning it.

Coincidentally, these are also the two teams I would like to see Ohio State play.
