The XFL is in the second week of its season and one former Ohio State football player is continuing to put on a show for football fans.

The XFL’s DC Defenders won their second game of the season on Saturday as they have started 2-0. A big reason for both of their wins has been the play of a former quarterback for the Ohio State football team, Cardale Jones.

Jones has been electric in both outings. After going 16-of-26 through the air for 235 yards and two touchdowns in week one, Jones had another big game on Saturday that led to the Defenders winning 27-0 over the New York Guardians. Completing 23 of his 37 passes, Jones threw for 276 yards against the Guardians for two touchdowns and one interception.

Not only did he put up solid stats, but he also made big plays that caught everyone’s attention. One came in the first quarter when he threw a dart to get his team into the red zone while taking a huge hit. The other came in the fourth quarter when the Defenders were already up 18-0. A hit resulted in Jones stumbling and losing the football, but he then picked up the football, got up and then scrambled before throwing a tight 20-yard pass to his receiver.

These plays were making the rounds on social media as everyone took notice of Jones’ playmaking abilities. Mina Kimes from ESPN even tweeted, “Cardale Jones is legitimately fun to watch,” while Steelers radio talk show host Andrew Fillipponi tweeted that the Steelers should sign Jones.

It is only two weeks in, but Jones is impressing a lot of football fans who are watching the XFL. I would assume NFL scouts are impressed by what they are seeing too. Jones could be a good quarterback in the NFL, in my opinion, and he is certainly proving it with his play on the field. Hopefully we will see him on an NFL team soon.
