The NFL is always loaded with former Ohio State football players and many have played in the Super Bowl. Here is a look at the top five who have.

The Ohio State football team has always been a pipeline to the NFL.  In Super Bowl LIV, Nick Bosa and Darron Lee are adding their names to the long list of Buckeyes who have been fortunate enough to play in the big game.

Looking back at the first 53 Super Bowls, here are the top five Buckeyes who played in the game:

Jim Marshall

I will gladly take the heat for putting Marshall at the top of the list.  He was one part of the Minnesota Vikings famous Purple People Eaters in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

A star defensive end who started in 277 NFL games including four Super Bowls, 1970, 1974, 1975 and 1977, Marshall dominated for 19 seasons.  That is an amazing feat during that era.

Marshall never earned a win in the big one, but his presence was a huge reason why the Vikings were so good when he played.

Mike Vrabel

Most would probably put Vrabel at the top of this list, especially since he has won three Super Bowls and played in four.

Despite being a star on New England’s dominant defenses in the 2000’s, Vrabel grabbed the spotlight by catching touchdown passes in Super Bowl XXXVIII and XXXIV.

Paul Warfield

Warfield played in three straight Super Bowls with the Miami Dolphins in 1972, 1973 and 1974 winning two.

His stats in the big game were not overly impressive considering he finished with just 103 yards and no touchdowns, but he was a key player for the Dolphins during that run.

Warfield is also a Hall of Famer giving him an edge against some of his Buckeyes’ peers.

William Roberts

Offensive linemen rarely get attention so I am going to put Roberts in the top five.  He earned it.

Roberts won Super Bowls with the New York Giants in 1988 and 1990 and lost one with the New England Patriots in 1997.

He helped pave the way for Ottis Anderson’s 102-yard, one touchdown MVP performance in Super Bowl XXV.

Santonio Holmes

Plenty of Buckeyes have played in more than one Super Bowl, but Holmes is the only one to win the MVP.

Next. Guiton proving himself in the coaching ranks. dark

He finished with 131 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh’s 27-23 win over Arizona in Super Bowl XLIII. He earned the MVP with his 73 yards and touchdown on the final drive to give the Steelers the win.
