Five Ohio State football players had the opportunity to impress pro scouts during Senior Bowl Week and K.J. Hill made the most of his.

Last year the Ohio State football player who really impressed pro scouts during Senior Bowl Week was Terry McLaurin. This year it was another Buckeye wide receiver K.J. Hill.

McLaurin was thought to be a late round pick by many before Senior Bowl Week but was drafted in the third round by the Washington Redskins. He made some serious money during that week and Hill almost certainly did this year as it was widely reported he was one of the stars during the week.

Other players may have as well. Here is what was reported in a Pro Football Focus article about Ohio State and Notre Dame players at the Senior Bowl.

"With five players from Ohio State (the second-most of any school at the Senior Bowl) and four from Notre Dame, the two midwestern blue bloods were well represented in Mobile. Both groups put on a show as well with receiver K.J. Hill, guard Jonah Jackson, cornerback Troy Pride Jr., and safety Jalen Elliott all making our top-10 risers. Even outside of those guys, safety Alohi Gilman, receivers Chase Claypool and Austin Mack, and defensive tackle Davon Hamilton all helped their draft stock with their performances this week."

How a player practices leading up to the Senior Bowl is always more important than how he performs during the game. NFL scouts can see a player’s practice habits and get a feel for their work ethic.

That helps NFL general managers see if a player is worthy of writing big checks to.

I don’t know what scouts should be concerned about when it comes to Hill. 183 receptions the past three years should have proven he can get open and catch the ball.

I guess scouts wanted to see if he could do it against top-flight college defenders. By all accounts he did.

It was nice to see Jonah Jackson mentioned. He helped pave the way for J.K. Dobbins to run for 2,000 yards.

The same could be said for Austin Mack, a reliable wide receiver who could make a big play when it was needed. He dealt with injuries the last two years, but when healthy he performed at a high level.

You have to love Davon Hamilton getting noticed. The defensive tackle worked so hard just to get playing time during his career and then had an outstanding senior season. Props to the big DT.

The only Buckeye who played in the Senior Bowl not mentioned in the PFF article was Malik Harrison, and he intercepted a pass during the game. I have a feeling the big, talented linebacker will go pretty high in the draft.

Next. Kerry Coombs hit the ground running. dark

Overall it was a nice Senior Bowl Week for the Buckeyes. I think most, if not all, made some money. Especially K.J. Hill
