Ohio State Football: Buckeyes send offer to another top running back
By David Wysong
The Ohio State football program is really trying to get a running back for its 2021 recruiting class, and the Buckeyes recently sent an offer to another top back.
With only having one running back commit in the 2020 class in three-star Miyan Williams, the Ohio State football program is really trying to get some top backs for its 2021 class.
The Buckeyes have already sent offers to running backs Donovan Edwards, Camar Wheaton, Corey Kiner, Cody Brown, Will Shipley, Evan Pryor, and Lovasea Carroll, according to 247Sports. Now they have sent one to four-star Brandon Campbell.
Campbell, the 5-10 back from Texas, is the No. 14 running back in the country and already has offers from the likes of Alabama, USC, LSU and Penn State.
This is what 247Sports has to say about Campbell.
"“Typical running back build with above average bulk relative to average height. Not the frame of a big back but enough space to get to 200-plus with relative ease. Athletic playmaker with impressive verified speed and agility (4.58 40, 4.07 shuttle). Shows good burst when he decides to plant and go. Limited pass-catching opportunities out of the backfield have been encouraging, particularly downfield. Shows enough close-quarters wiggle to make a defender miss.”"
You can only assume that at least one, but possibly more, of these top running backs will chose to bring their talents to Columbus. Especially with J.K. Dobbins running for over 2,000 yards this past year, in addition to Master Teague running for almost 800 yards, any running back in the country should want to be a Buckeye.
It is a little nerve-wracking that Ohio State only has one commit in the 2020 class that is a three-star, but that is why it seems as if they are sending every four or five-star running back an offer for 2021. They know they need to add more depth for the future of their program.
I, however, think the Buckeyes will be okay. I don’t know if Campbell will be the guy to make the move to Ohio State, but he would be a great addition to the program if he is the one. Whoever comes though, they will most definitely have an immense amount of success in their college career if they chose to be a Buckeye.
