The Ohio State football team is looking forward to another loaded class of recruits in 2021. Here are three targets they need to get signed.

With the offseason moving along the Buckeye coaches are hitting the recruiting trail hard as they look to plant some flags before the recruiting dead period which starts on February 3rd.

The 2021 class of recruits for Ohio State is already ranked the No.1 class in the nation by 247Sports. With nine hard commits that includes the country’s No. 2 ranked player in defensive end Jack Sawyer, the Buckeyes are looking to add more talent to an already stellar recruiting class.

The Scarlet and Gray still have a few holes to fill however. Key positions such as corner back and running back are in need of an influx of young talent.  Here are three recruiting targets that the Buckeye’s need to land for 2021.

No.1 Tony Grimes, cornerback

Needless to say, the Buckeyes need to step up their recruiting efforts when it comes to the secondary. With Damon Arnette and Jeff Okudah gone to the NFL, and having a top 50 national recruit in Clark Phillips flip to Utah during the early signing period for the 2020 class, the need at this position in dire.

With Kerry Coombs back at Ohio State, look for him to take the lead on the recruitment of Tony Grimes, the No.10 ranked player in the class of 2021 from Virginia Beach. Already being recruited by Al Washington, Grimes is a five-star, can’t miss prospect that the Buckeyes need to help continue its title as “DBU.” Grimes’ player evaluation on 247Sports is very impressive:

"Long strider who can cover on long crossing routes and deep throws. Strong upper body helps re-route receivers with jams. Comfortable in backpedal and explodes forward out of it. Good tackler and asset in run defense. High IQ on and off field."

It will not be easy as Grimes is being perused by Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Penn State, but if the Buckeyes land him than the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation is all but locked up to Ohio State for 2021. And the Kerry Coombs era as defensive coordinator would start off with a major boom!
