The Ohio State football program has had a plethora of great players, but 2020 signee Julian Fleming may soon be one of the best.

2020 wide receiver signee Julian Fleming became the third Ohio State football signee to win the High School Football America/National High School Coaches Association Senior Player of the Year award on Friday. The other two being Terrelle Pryor and Tate Martell.

Fleming earned the 2019 award after recently concluding his four-year career at Southern Columbia as a Pennsylvania Class 2A state champion for the third straight year. Fleming had 72 catches for 1,572 yards and 23 touchdowns last season and was named the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year the past two years. He is also the state’s all-time leader in reception and receiving yards.

Buckeye fans have a lot to be excited about when it comes to Fleming and him winning all these awards proves why.

Fleming is a five-star recruit and the second-ranked 2020 recruit in the entire country, according to 247Sports. This is what the guys at 247Sports say about him.

"Terrific combination of size, strength and leaping ability. Easily separates. Speed and physicality make him elite after the catch, and ball skills are exceptional. A game-changer on special teams as well with another gear once he sees the seam or daylight to the end zone. A difference-maker in the red zone. There may be a few receivers faster but nobody nationally with the tool bag Fleming has at the position."

I personally think Fleming will make his mark right away, especially as the Buckeyes will most likely pass more next year with J.K. Dobbins leaving for the NFL and quarterback Justin Fields having a year under his belt. We saw how Fields effectively used freshman Garrett Wilson this year too, so I expect Fields to use Fleming just as much as a true freshman next year, if not more.

Fleming will certainly bring a lot of talent to Columbus, as many people can see with the awards he received and the stats he put up, but he is also a three-time state champion. Fleming will bring championship pedigree to Columbus and that could be extremely valuable to a team hoping to win a national championship.
