The Ohio State football team and head coach Ryan Day may not be done when it comes to the 2020 recruiting class. A four-star running back remains a key target.

Ohio State is hosting Dalton, Georgia native running back Jahmyr Gibbs this weekend for an official visit, according to Lettermen Row. Gibbs is a four-star prospect that is currently committed to Georgia Tech, however his commitment has been wavering.

The No.16 overall rated running back in this class according to 247Sports, Gibbs plans on visiting LSU, Florida and Georgia Tech within the next month before he makes his final decision.

Gibbs put up some unbelievable numbers last season as a senior at Dalton High School. With 2,554 yards rushing and 40 touchdowns on the ground Gibbs earned a trip to the 2020 All-American Bowl.

Landing a second running back in this class to go along with three-star recruit Miyan Williams would be a big get for Ohio State. After running back coach Tony Alford swung for the fences on five-star back Bijan Robinson and came up empty, Alford is looking to land a different big catch to add to his running backs room.

Gibbs comes with tons of potential and upside. Here is a portion of his scouting report from 247Sports:

"Stoutly built with a compact frame. Has added a good bit of mass over the last year of his high school career. Saw his production double from junior to senior year, making him one of the hottest running back prospects in the 2020 cycle. Plays with high-level quickness and burst. Runs rhythmically with a natural feel and the ability to accelerate and decelerate quickly. Uses his vision to set up blocks and has high-end change of direction with the ability to make a bevy of cuts in different directions without slowing down."

If the Buckeyes can land Gibbs then they would have a total of six running backs on its depth chart. That could mean a potential transfer out of that room as it has been rumored that red shirt senior Demario McCall could be looking for another school.

And while Ohio State is actively recruiting some top ranked running backs in the 2021 recruiting cycle, such as five-star prospect Will Shipley, the Buckeyes could certainly use another set of legs in the running back room.

In any case, if Alford and Day could nab Jahmyr Gibbs then the future of Ohio State’s running back position should be a bright one for a long time to come.
