I still have this feeling that Ohio State should be playing in this game, but they’re not so I guess I’ll take a look at the actual matchup.

LSU has been one of the top two teams in the country all season long behind the stellar play of former Buckeye QB Joe Burrow.

Burrow has had one of the most spectacular seasons a college quarterback has ever had as he has thrown for 5,208 yards, 55 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. He also has two really good weapons in Ja’Marr Chase who has 1,559 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, and Justin Jefferson who has caught 102 passes for 1,434 yards and 18 touchdowns.

So, while Burrow is incredible – their entire offense is just elite. Especially with their running game too as Clyde Edwards-Helaire has 1,304 rushing yards on the year.

While this offense is one of the best offensive units to ever play in college football, averaging 48.9 points per game, Clemson has a really good offense too.

Behind future top pick Trevor Lawrence, who won the national championship as a freshman last year, Clemson is scoring 45.3 points per game. Lawrence has had a pretty great year too with 3,431 passing  yards, 36 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He also has one of the best running backs in the country in Travis Etienne who has 1,536 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.

Lawrence also has one of the best receivers around in Tee Higgins who has 1,115 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns this year.

If you can’t see where I am going with this by talking up both offenses, I’ll tell you right now – I think this will be a shoot-out.

We will see some of the best talent in the country on the field tonight and while Clemson has a great defense and LSU’s defense is okay, nobody will be able to slow down these offensive units.

My prediction: Clemson will keep it close as Lawrence will surprise LSU – like he did Ohio State – with some long runs, but Burrow will just be too much, and LSU wins 42-32.
