The Ohio State football team’s co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison is reportedly recruiting against his former employer and I am all for it.

According to an article written by 247Sports’ The Michigan Insider, 2021 offensive tackle recruit J.C. Latham said this about the Ohio State football team’s co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, who also used to coach at Michigan.

"“When I first went to Ohio State back in the spring time for practice, [coach Mattison] was the first guy I talked to because I knew him right off the bat,” Latham told 247Sports Midwest analyst Allen Trieu last weekend. “He was telling me how different Ohio State’s program was and how their facilities, practices, culture, all that was a lot better at Ohio State than Michigan. He was really telling me at their school, it’s a business and they ran it strict to a T. He was telling me, ‘if you’re here, I can see you getting developed ten times better than I could see at any other school.’"

My favorite part from this quote? The part about Latham getting developed 10 times better at OSU than any other school.

We all know that Ohio State is light years ahead of Michigan right now especially after the Buckeyes have won eight straight games against the Wolverines and 15 of the last 16.

However, Mattison certainly has a point about development.

Throughout history, according to Pro Football Reference, Michigan has had 388 players drafted. Ohio State has had 471.

Not only that, but Michigan does not really have any stars in the league right now that have played for them recently. Their biggest star is, obviously, Tom Brady, but he hasn’t played at UM since the 90s. Other than that, their biggest star/best player is probably Devin Bush who had 109 total tackles this year for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ohio State, on the other hand, has a plethora of stars in the league.

They have two of the best pass rushers in the league in Joey Bosa and Nick Bosa, they have one of the best running backs in the league in Ezekiel Elliott, they have the best wide receiver in the game in Michael Thomas, and one of the most exciting rookie receivers in Terry McLaurin. They also have a ton of other household names like Raekwon McMillan, Marshon Lattimore, Carlos Hyde, Malcolm Jenkins, Cameron Heyward, Ted Ginn Jr. and others.

Just looking at the list of current Ohio State players in the NFL versus Michigan clearly proves that players develop better at OSU than they do at UM.

Next. Freshmen who could make an immediate impact. dark

So take notice, recruits. You have a better chance at becoming a star in the NFL if you go to Ohio State over Michigan – even a former Michigan coach in Greg Mattison knows it.
