The Ohio State basketball team has been one of the best teams in the country early this season, but they have recently hit a rut.

One of the biggest stories in college basketball early this season has been the play of the Ohio State basketball team. They have been one of the most impressive teams in the nation with wins over Villanova, North Carolina, Penn State and Kentucky.

However, after starting 11-1 they have now lost two straight games.

After getting the big win over Kentucky on Dec. 21, the Buckeyes lost by eight to the West Virginia Mountaineers and they were then upset by Wisconsin on Friday.

There are a lot of things to dissect from those last two losses, but Buckeye fans need to start worrying because this season is starting to resemble last year’s.

No, Ohio State did not look as dominant last year, but they started 12-1 with wins over UCLA and Cincinnati.

Then the new year came.

Once 2019 started for the Buckeyes they lost their next five games and ultimately went 6-12 the rest of the regular season after starting 12-1.

So far this year they are only 0-1 in 2020, but their loss to West Virginia came just three days before the new year started.

I don’t know what it is about this stretch in the season, but the Buckeyes must figure out what they were doing well at the beginning of the year before this losing streak gets out of control like it did last year.

For me, I would like to see more of the offense run through freshman guard D.J. Carton. He scored 11 in Ohio State’s big win over Villanova, and 15 in their win over Kentucky. Against West Virginia, he only scored three points, and he was scoreless against Wisconsin.

There are plenty of other things Ohio State needs to do to start playing better but getting Kaleb Wesson some scoring help through Carton could certainly help. Let’s hope they figure something out soon so we don’t see the same thing we did last year.
