Amir Riep, corner back

Ohio State corner back Amir Riep is ready to finally be “the man” in the Buckeye secondary. Heading into his senior season, Riep is going to be called upon to be the leader of the secondary with the likelihood of every starter in last year’s secondary heading to the NFL.

Riep has good size for a corner standing at six-foot tall and 195 pounds. Being pressed into duty late in the season due to injuries and an ejection, Riep held his own on the field against the likes of Michigan, Wisconsin and Clemson. He especially played well in the Michigan game as he had a key fourth quarter interception.

Head coach Ryan Day certainly took notice of Riep’s performance in the Michigan game saying this, via Bucknuts:

"“I think certainly his absence was felt,” Day said of Wade. “But especially late in the game, I thought Amir Riep stepped up to make a huge interception, we had a huge fourth-and-three breakup. So while the chemistry was a little different at times, I thought he stepped up and played really well.”"

As we roll on into the offseason here and a new secondary coach is announced, the coaches will not only be looking at Amir Riep to step up and lock down a starting corner spot but also to lead this young and inexperienced secondary.
