The Ohio State football team has to replace running back JK Dobbins. With some good  young options already on the team, could OSU be looking elsewhere for help?

The Ohio State football team’s star running back JK Dobbins made it official he will be entering the NFL draft, as reported by Letterman Row. The Buckeyes do have some great options for replacing him already in-house.

At the top of that list sits Master Teague who’s 2019 campaign yielded 789 yards rushing and four touchdowns. That was good enough for Teague to be named third team All Big Ten. The running back, who is built like a bulldozer, would be fun to watch get the majority of the carries next season.

Also on the roster are youngsters Marcus Crowley and Steele Chambers. Both are former four-star recruits who showed promise in limited action this past season.

But news from NBC sports surfaced yesterday that former five-star RB Lorenzo Lingard is looking to transfer from Miami. Ohio State had serious interest in Lingard during the 2018 recruiting cycle.

A knee injury he suffered as a true freshman has kept Lingard from receiving much action in his two seasons as a Miami Hurricane. So the Buckeyes medical staff is going to have to do their homework to make sure his knee is fully healthy before bringing him aboard.

Chris Boyle of dbnewsjournal.com reported this concerning the situation:

"“He (Lingard) said Florida, UCF, Florida State, Tennessee and Ohio State have reached out. Coaches have asked about his knee, and Lingard said he feel “100%” in his recovery from a left LCL tear and ACL sprain.”"

Lingard would be an intriguing option for the Scarlet and Gray to consider. He was clocked at 4.27 in the 40 yard dash in 2018 according to 247Sports, which would give Ohio State a true home run hitter in the back field.

Next. Top players of the decade. dark

We will keep an eye on this situation as things in the transfer portal really start to heat up shortly.
