Ohio State Football: Ryan Day adds another recruit to top ranked class
Ryan Day already has 24 players signed in his No. 3 ranked 2020 recruiting class and now has added one more to his top ranked 2021 class.
When former Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer retired some wondered if the recruiting would drop off. Not hardly, Ryan Day has an outstanding 2020 recruiting class and now his 2021 class is ranked No. 1 in the 247Sports Composite.
He just added a tight end to the class yesterday which is a position of need.
Sam Hart is from Aurora, Colorado and is listed at 6 ft. 5, 225 pounds. He is ranked as the 15th best tight end and the No. 365 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class.
That was an important get for coach Day with Luke Farrell and Jake Hausmann moving on after next season. The only other tight ends on the roster are Jeremy Ruckert, Carmontae Hamilton and incoming freshman Joe Royer.
Hart joins six other players in the class. Let’s take a look at those recruits beginning with the other offensive players.
I’ll begin with two talented high school teammates from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Quarterback Kyle McCord is the 5th ranked pro style quarterback and the No. 33 player in the country. Marvin Harrison Jr. is the 8th ranked wide receiver and No. 54 player overall.
Ben Christman from Richfield, Ohio is the 10th ranked offensive tackle and No. 56 overall player. Jayden Ballard is from Massillon, Ohio and is ranked as the No. 11 wide receiver and 74th overall player.
Now for the other side of the ball beginning with a local recruit everybody in the country was after.
Jack Sawyer is from Pickerington, Ohio and is ranked as the No. 2 strong side defensive end and overall player. Inside linebacker Reid Carrico from Ironton, Ohio is ranked the 4th best at his position and the No. 121 player overall.
While Ryan Day is putting the finishing touches on his outstanding 2020 recruiting class he is certainly off to a great start on the next. With the way he has recruited during his short time as head coach the Ohio State football team will continue to be loaded with talent.
