The Ohio State football team just completed another great season despite feeling like it came up short. But it shows the future is bright for the Buckeyes.

If this season was any indication of the future for Ohio State football it is safe to say the future is very bright in Columbus. Ryan Day exceeded expectations in his first season as head coach as the QB Justin Fields also in his first year.

The Buckeyes will return many weapons especially on the offense of side of the football. True freshman wide receiver Garrett Wilson now has a year under his belt, and along with Chris Olave will headline the receiving corps next year. They will be among the best duos in the country on the perimeter.

Ryan Day will also welcome in a top five recruiting class that will feature weapons like WR Julian Fleming who likely will see immediate playing time similarly to Wilson this season. It has been reported J.K. Dobbins will enter the NFL draft but his backup Master Teague has the potential to develop into a great running back.

Even with Dobbins moving on a few fellow teammates could potentially return because of unfinished business they want to take care of next season in the College Football Playoff. And talented young players will be ready to make their mark.

The likely departure of Chase Young will open the door for guys like Zach Harrison to shine next year for the Rushmen. The defense will be the bigger of the two sides of the ball in terms of question marks. But there is high confidence in Coach Day to replace Jeff Hafley with someone who can maintain the success seen this year.

The Buckeyes dominated their opponents week in and week out proving they are still head and shoulders above the Big Ten conference. The level of success Urban Meyer attained in his seven years was thought to be unthinkable, but now it seems as though Ryan Day will also be able to continue the elite level of play at Ohio State.

Next. Bad call, poor fundamentals doomed Buckeyes. dark

There are no signs of this machine slowing down anytime soon, so it is safe to assume the expectations for 2020 will be more than what we saw this year in 2019. Ohio State will be the conference favorite next season as well as in the top three favorites for winning the National Championship.
