The Ohio State football team returns to the CFP facing the defending National Champions, the Clemson Tigers. Despite the doubt, the Buckeyes will have success in AZ.

Ohio State and Clemson are set to square off in what should be the game of the year in Phoenix. The Fiesta Bowl features the two most balanced, well-coached teams in the country and this matchup will live up to the hype. It will be a chess match between Ohio State HC Ryan Day and Clemson DC Brent Venables.

Day has been a mastermind when facing top ranked defenses in his three years at Ohio State and we can expect more of the same in the desert. Weather finally won’t be a factor in a big game for the Buckeyes so their speed and execution will be able to be fully showcased.

However, Clemson can match the size and speed of Ohio State, but the Buckeyes hold the advantage on the line of scrimmage which is paramount. Expect JK Dobbins to be the anchor of the offense, especially early as he’ll set the tone and open up the passing game for Justin Fields.

The mobility of Fields will be a huge factor in the game and all the more reason the offensive line will have to play their best game of the season. KJ Hill will be the X-factor as Chris Olave will continue to shine and be the Buckeyes main deep threat. I like Fields to hit at least one deep ball for a touchdown Saturday night to spark the offense and gain momentum.

Defensively, Chase Young will be matched up with Jackson Carman for most of the evening where he should return to true form. Some say he has been MIA in the last two games, but it was due to a mixture of scheme, missed calls, and double and triple teams.

Larry Johnson is one of the best in the business, so he will ensure Young’s name is called early and often against the smaller Tiger front.

The Buckeyes will be playing motivated football as the chip on their shoulder has grown immensely since the preseason. The disrespect from the media has been loud, but the on field performance from Ohio State will be louder in the CFP.

No one but the Buckeyes think they will pull off the win but they will prove the doubters wrong by winning a classic college football game to close this successful decade of Ohio State football.
