2019 was a great year for the Ohio State football team and the Ohio State basketball team. However, 2020 could be the year of the Buckeye.

Both the Ohio State football team and the Ohio State basketball team are in great positions going into 2020.

The football team will play in the College Football Playoff Semifinals against Clemson on Saturday. A lot of talk has been about the Tigers, the reigning national champions, but the Buckeyes have been dominant all season long and rank at No. 2 over the No. 3 Tigers.

If Ohio State can play like it has all season long, then there is no doubt that they will be heading to the national championship game to either play LSU or Oklahoma.

The national championship will be played on Jan. 13, 2020. The Buckeyes could potentially play their biggest game of the year 2020 just 13 days into the year. If they win, then holy moly that will be a great start to the year 2020 and to the new decade.

Ohio State basketball, on the other hand, is one of the best teams in the entire country. They already have a 25-point signature win over Villanova, a 25-point signature win over North Carolina at North Carolina, and a signature six-point win over Kentucky.

They already have a good enough resume to get a one seed in the NCAA tournament and they have only played a couple Big Ten games so far. The Buckeyes have one more game in 2019 and it could be another signature win as they have to play the 10-1 West Virginia Mountaineers.

Could you imagine going into the new year with a 12-1 record and four signature wins? Well it could very well possibly happen.

If the basketball team can continue to play like it has then 2020 could be a year where they have a one seed and who knows, maybe reach a Final Four, the national championship, or maybe even win the whole dang thing.

Who knows what is in store for 2020. My hopes for 2020 being a great year for Ohio State could be completely erased with a loss to Clemson in the CFP Semifinals. However, with a big win on Saturday, 2020 could be set up perfectly to be the year of the Buckeye.
