No. 1: January 12, 2015- Oregon 20, Ohio State 42
Dominating from start to end. Ohio State built up a 21-10 lead at half time and never looked back. Oregon was able to make it a bit of a game in the third quarter but the game was never really in any doubt.
Zeke Elliot had another monster game with 246 yards rushing and four touchdowns as Urban Meyer simply out-coached Mark Helfrich and the rest of Oregon’s staff. If it wasn’t for four Ohio State turnovers in this game, the Buckeyes may have won by 40.
This greatest game of the decade for the Buckeyes because we all got to celebrate being champions on that cold January night in 2015. The culmination of three years of extremely painful and hard work by Urban Meyer and his staff to get the program from 6-7 in 2011 to national champions in 2014.
Urban Meyer became only the second coach ever to win a national title at two different schools, joining Nick Saban. After the game Meyer summed up what this game meant to him, via ESPN:
"“I’m humbled … and appreciate the people who did it, and that’s our players,” Meyer said. “I made a comment and will never forget something Bill Parcells said: It’s like a blood transfer. We’re officially brothers for the rest of our lives because we’re champions.”"
Five great games that we all will remember for a long time, this decade was a great time to be a Buckeye fan.
