The Ohio State football team has played in some great games over the last decade. Here is a list of five games that top them all.

From Ohio State’s 2010 Sugar Bowl victory over Arkansas to the Buckeyes 2019 Big Ten Championship, the Scarlet and Gray have played in some unbelievable college football games during this past decade.

We saw the end of the Jim Tressel era and the start of Urban Meyer’s. From an undefeated 2012 campaign to a National Championship two seasons later. Some tough lessons in 2015 and 2016 helped pave the way to the hiring of Ryan Day as offensive coordinator and eventually head coach.

As we sit here a few days before the 2019 College Football Playoff kicks off, let’s take a moment to look back and enjoy what we saw over the last decade. 117 wins versus only 17 defeats, and yes I am including the 2010 season that did occur on the field but didn’t count according to the NCAA.

It was hard to narrow this list down to just five games but here are those that stand out from this past decade, so lets give it a shot.

No. 5:  October 20,2012- Purdue 22, Ohio State 29 OT

The most exciting game of the undefeated 2012 season, this game will forever be remembered as backup quarterback Kenny Guiton’s day to shine.

As Braxton Miller was on his way to a hospital for a possible head injury, Guiton entered and led the Buckeyes to a game tying touchdown and two point conversion.

It was tough sledding for the Buckeyes all day as Braxton Miller struggled throwing going only 9-20 for 113 yards and an interception. Carlos Hyde didn’t get much going in the running game and things were looking bleak for the 7-0 Buckeyes. But Miller’s injury gave Kenny Guiton a chance to save the day.

In overtime, Guiton led Ohio State on a five play drive that was capped off by a one yard touchdown run by Hyde to seal the victory.

Tight end Jeff Heuerman had high praise for Guiton’s efforts following the game, via ESPN:

"“That’s one of those things that will go down in the record books forever,” Heuerman said. “There’s no one more deserving than Kenny, too. I love the guy. It’s incredible. I get chills thinking about it.”"

Now for an important matchup in “The Game”.
