The Ohio State football team’s rivalry with That Team Up North is one of the greatest rivalries in sports, but there is a new rivalry that is even better.

Former Ohio State football head coach Urban Meyer has done a great job on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff this year since retiring at the end of last season. However, it has not come without controversy which has now budded into a more entertaining rivalry than Ohio State’s with Michigan.

According to a tweet from Big Ten Network’s Mike Hall, Meyer said this when talking about what it has been like doing TV this year.

"“I had fun – turns out folks wanna talk about football, they don’t want to see jumpin’ in lakes or goin on rollercoasters,” Meyer said."

If you don’t know what Meyer was talking about, he was taking a shot at the other college football pregame show ESPN’s College Gameday, and former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee who belly flopped into the Brazos River on live television.

McAfee responded to the shot he got from Meyer with a tweet but what really got some buzz was when McAfee said this on ESPN’s Get Up on Monday, according to 247Sports, when discussing how Meyer could potentially do as an NFL head coach.

"“Urban Meyer took a shot at me out of nowhere whenever he was doing a very small interview for somebody, so I obviously think he’s a bum strictly because of that, but let’s go deeper into this,” McAfee said. “A lot of college coaches have not been able to transition into the NFL if they have no NFL experience. You saw it with (Nick) Saban, he left. (Bobby) Petrino, he left. You name it. Whenever you have an authoritarian where you control every single moment of someone’s life — which is what college coaches do — they control their workout, what they’re eating, their workout, year-round.”"

Oh, boy. Clearly diehard Urban Meyer fans were not too happy about this and Ohio State fans must have talked smack to McAfee. He tweeted that it was hard not to burry OSU fans on Tuesday.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know if majority of Ohio State fans dislike McAfee now or if it was just a select few but I love the guy. Yeah, he took some shots at our former ball coach – who took a shot at him first – but I love being entertained and this new rivalry between Meyer and McAfee is certainly entertaining. I am not taking sides here either, I think it is okay to be a fan of both guys.

Ohio State and Michigan’s rivalry has been pretty one-sided for the last 20 years, so since we are losing the entertainment that The Game used to bring, us Buckeye fans can now appreciate a new rivalry.
