The 2020 Ohio State recruiting class was already one of the best in the country and Ryan Day added another highly ranked QB to it today.

Quarterback Jack Miller held true to his commitment to the 2020 Ohio State recruiting class and signed on the dotted line today. C.J. Stroud also announced he will play for the Buckeyes giving Ryan Day two highly ranked quarterbacks in this year’s class.

Let’s first look at the QB who committed July 1, 2018.

Miller is from Scottsdale, Arizona and is listed at 6 ft. 4, 210 pounds. He is ranked as the 14th best pro style quarterback and the No. 290 overall player in the 247Sports Composite.

Now for the newest addition to the Ohio State recruiting class.

Stroud is from Rancho Cucamonga, California and is listed at 6 ft. 2 ½, 194 pounds. He is ranked the second best pro style quarterback and the No. 83 overall player in the 247Sports Composite.

Now a look at why coach Day thought it was important to bring in two quarterbacks in this year’s class even though the 5th ranked pro style QB in the 2021 class Kyle McCord is a Buckeye commit.

Senior backup quarterback Chris Chugunov will be moving on so of course there will be an immediate need at the position for depth purposes. The other backup Gunnar Hoak only has one year of eligibility left and there is a strong possibility Justin Fields could jump to the NFL after the 2020 season.

Coach Day did a terrific job bringing in Fields and Hoak this year as transfers but it’s obvious he would rather fill his QB room with his recruits going forward.

To land two highly ranked quarterbacks like Miller and Stroud is quite an accomplishment, and a testament to the job coach Day has done working with J.T. Barrett, Dwayne Haskins and Justin Fields. And of course he worked with Joe Burrow for one year, the guy who recently won the Heisman Trophy.

It says a lot about the two quarterback recruits as well, it’s obvious they aren’t afraid of stiff competition. With that being the case, it looks like coach Day’s QB room will be a good one.
