Ohio State Football: Big Ten Championship Game predictions
The Buckeyes (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) have been dominant this year, averaging a 50-12 scoreline against their opponents. The Badgers (10-2, 7-2 Big Ten) have already fallen to the Buckeyes 38-7 and will hope to reverse history to grab a Big Ten title, their first since 2012.
Wisconsin ranks in the Top 10 in points per game allowed and total passing and rushing yards allowed. In their match-up earlier this season against Ohio State, that defense was virtually nonexistent after a 10-7 deficit ballooned to a 38-7 defeat in which Wisconsin gave up 431 total yards, 264 of which came on the ground.
J.K. Dobbins had Wisconsin’s number in the first game, rushing for 221 yards and two scores. Wisconsin has been able to limit the run in most of their other games, but with an Ohio State offensive line full of first or second team All-Big Ten players, Dobbins should perform to expectations.
In the previous match-up, opposing RB Johnathan Taylor was quite limited, rushing for only 52 yards. If the Buckeyes are able to do the same Saturday in Indy, then the game won’t be close.
Ohio State could probably leave Indy with a close loss and still make the CFP. However, they will once again defeated Wisconsin, this time relying on a fast start, much like the 2014 Buckeyes did on the way to a 59-0 bludgeoning of the Badgers.
Justin Fields leads the offensive charge as Chase Young boosts his stock to be a Heisman finalist and top-two draft pick to put a Silver Football on top of the Buckeyes’ season before the final CFP rankings.
