The Ohio State football team has had the most impressive resume in the country up to this point. Looking ahead to the playoffs, who might be the next opponent for the Buckeyes?

The Ohio State football team has one more game until the College Football Playoff committee reveals their final rankings. When the Buckeyes take on the Badgers this weekend, there will still be a lot on the line.

Ohio State has all but locked up a trip to the College Football Playoffs. Even with a loss, I expect the Buckeyes to be playing in the semifinals for a national championship.

But, who that opponent is is becoming very important. Ohio State, LSU and Clemson have all looked very dominate throughout the year. Nobody really wants to play those teams. The same cannot be said of the other teams in the hunt.

Utah, Oklahoma and Baylor have all shown significant weaknesses and do not seem to be on the same level as the top three teams in the country. Ohio State can dodge playing LSU or Clemson (assuming the top teams win) by beating Wisconsin.

With a win Ohio State has four teams I can see them playing, Utah, Oklahoma, Baylor and LSU.

Utah plays Oregon in the Pac-12 championship and will be trying to edge out the winner of the Big 12 Championship Game, either Oklahoma or Baylor. Tonight the committee will give a little insight as to where they view these teams.

The order of Utah and Oklahoma matters to see who has the edge between the two schools currently. The rankings of Baylor and Oregon matter to see how much of a better win Oklahoma could have by beating a top 10 Baylor team.

I think Utah will still be ranked ahead of Oklahoma tonight, but I would expect that to switch after the championship games are done. I believe that if no upsets occur in the major conferences the winner of the Big 12 will be the last team in the College Football Playoffs.

Things start to get interesting if Georgia pulls off the upset over LSU. In that instance, I think Ohio State will remain No. 1 followed by Georgia, Clemson and then LSU at No. 4.

If Ohio State loses they may be looking at LSU (but as the No. 4 seed) or Clemson for the first opponent. By the time the Buckeyes play at 8 p.m. on Saturday, we will already know the results of every game except Clemson.

Next. UM enemies want Harbaugh to hang around. dark

By then, Ohio State will have a pretty good idea of who their next opponent will be. Who do you hope Ohio State plays in the semifinals of the College Football Playoffs?
