Northwestern at Illinois (-8.5)

Entering the season, who would have thought at his point that the Wildcats would be winless in the Big Ten and the Fighting Illini would be aiming for their seventh win?

I knew Northwestern would take a step back from winning the West last year, but this season has been a disaster.

Pat Fitzgerald has been testy about his offense which has been awful.  His defense hasn’t been that good either.

On the other side, Lovie Smith’s team gained momentum with the win over Wisconsin and has been playing with confidence. Illinois is still an average team, but it is winning the games that it would lose in the past.

Northwestern has won the Land of Lincoln trophy six out of the last seven years and four-straight.  The streak ends this year.

Illinois 24-17.
