Ohio State Football: 5 predictions for Michigan game
The No. 1 ranked Ohio State football team travels north to Ann Arbor to take on the No. 13 ranked Michigan Wolverines this Saturday afternoon. Here are five predictions for what may go down:
In the blink of an eye, this football regular season is coming to a close. It feels just like yesterday that FAU and Lane Kiffin came into Ohio Stadium in late August to open the season.
But here we are, undefeated heading into The Game. We wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s the best week of the year for a diehard Buckeye fan.
Head coach Ryan Day enters the rivalry for the first time as the lead dog and Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh looks for his first win in five attempts.
The Wolverines are coming into this game having won five straight, including a 39-14 rout of Indiana last weekend. The Buckeyes are coming off a huge emotional win versus a top 10 opponent in Penn State last Saturday.
Ohio State moved to No. 1 last night in the CFP rankings. With Michigan sitting at No.13, the Buckeyes will get a chance at solidifying its place at No.1 with at Top 15 road victory and a Big Ten Championship the following week.
Here are five predictions for The Game:
Shea Patterson proves to be the best QB Ohio State has seen all season
Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson is playing the best football of his Michigan career. The former five-star transfer quarterback has been putting up big numbers all season. Throwing for over 2,500 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, Patterson has proved that he can sling the rock.
He’s also coming off his best two game stretch of his career. In victory’s over Michigan State and Indiana, Patterson has thrown for 750 yards and nine touchdowns. Very impressive to say the least.
Patterson also has a keen ability to keep plays alive with his feet when forced out of the pocket by pressure. Chase Young and the rest of the Buckeye rush-men will have to figure out a way to get pressure while also keeping him in the pocket. Gap discipline will be key for Ohio State’s pass rushers in this game.
I’m predicting a good, not great, game from the senior quarterback in his last game in Ann Arbor: 210 yards passing and two touchdowns, one interception. More than that however, the question will be can Patterson make enough plays with his legs keep Michigan in this game?
