The Ohio State football team is No. 2 in this week’s AP Poll and LSU is once again at the top of the rankings. Two other SEC teams are in the top five.

With the 56-21 victory over Rutgers Ohio State stayed at No. 2 and LSU is No. 1 in the Week 12 AP Poll. The SEC still has three teams in the top five, just two switched positions.

Georgia moved up to No. 4 with a victory over Auburn and Alabama dropped one spot. Florida moved back in to the Top 10 as well.

With Penn State No. 9, Oregon (6) and Utah (7) the Big Ten and Pac 12 each have two teams in the Top 10. Oklahoma comes in at No. 8.

Here are the Top 25 teams in the Week 13 AP Poll. You may find it interesting how the conferences are represented.

  1. LSU  (SEC)
  2. Ohio State (Big Ten)
  3. Clemson (ACC)
  4. Georgia (SEC)
  5. Alabama (SEC)
  6. Oregon (Pac 12)
  7. Utah (Pac 12)
  8. Oklahoma (Big 12)
  9. Penn State (Big Ten)
  10. Florida (SEC)
  11. Minnesota (Big Ten)
  12. Michigan (Big Ten)
  13. Baylor (Big 12)
  14. Wisconsin (Big Ten)
  15. Notre Dame (Independent)
  16. Auburn (SEC)
  17. Cincinnati (AAC)
  18. Memphis (AAC))
  19. Iowa (Big Ten)
  20. Boise State (Mountain West)
  21. SMU (AAC)
  22. Oklahoma State (Big 12)
  23. Appalachian State (Sun Belt)
  24. Texas A&M (SEC)
  25. Virginia Tech (ACC)

There are six teams from both the SEC and the Big Ten in the Top 25 this week and three teams from the Big 12 and AAC are ranked.

The ACC and Pac 12 conferences only have two teams ranked and the Sun Belt and Mountain West each has one. Of course Notre Dame is an Independent.

It may be time for the AAC to be considered a Power Conference. I’m not sure how strong the conference is as a whole but at least there is competition at the top. That can’t be said about the ACC.

Next. 3 questions with College GameDay coming to town. dark

Anyway, that’s this week’s AP Poll. I know, it doesn’t matter now that the CFP rankings are out. Ever notice how the Playoff Committee’s Top 10 is usually about the same as the media’s? Just a thought.
