Ohio State Football: Game changer Chase Young to return
Players and coaches on the Ohio State football team received great news today. Defensive Chase Young will return for the Penn State game.
The Ohio State University announced today Chase Young will miss the Rutgers game Saturday but will return for the Penn State game on November 23. Having the star defensive end back will certainly improve the Buckeyes’ chances of making the College Football Playoff with the challenging games at the end of the season.
Considered by many to be the best player in college football, Young has been a nightmare for opposing offenses. He is a game changer who must be accounted for on every play.
So far this season, Young recorded 29 tackles (15.5 for loss), 13.5 sacks and 5 forced fumbles.
Even when he doesn’t get a sack or tackle a running back, he often disrupts the play so a teammate can pad his stats. Since he is often double-teamed it makes it easier for the other talented linemen to get pressure on the QB or blow up a running play.
His services weren’t needed in the Maryland game and the defensive line performed well in his absence. It should be more of the same versus Rutgers Saturday but then things will be intense from there on out.
Next up is No. 9 Penn State and that game will more than likely be for the Big East Championship. Then it’s a trip to Ann Arbor to face No. 15 Michigan.
If Ohio State holds serve the Big Ten Championship Game will be challenging as the contenders in the West are all in the top 20 of this week’s CFP rankings.
Credit to the university for getting out in front of the situation, you have to think that impacted the NCAA’s decision to limit Young’s suspension to two games. Now the Buckeyes will have him back for the important stretch drive.
Ohio State may have won out even with the star defensive end sidelined. However, the players and coaches have to like their chances of doing so even more now that the best player in college football will be back in the lineup.
