The Ohio State basketball team has had a nice start to the season through two games as they are 2-0. Freshman D.J. Carton seems as good as advertised too.

Through two games the Ohio State basketball team has defeated the University of Cincinnati 64-56 and UMass Lowell 76-56 as they are currently 2-0.

They have seen some solid performances from the likes of Kaleb Wesson and Kyle Young, but freshman D.J. Carton has also shown why he was such a sought-after recruit.

Against Cincinnati, Carton had nine points on 60 percent shooting to go with five rebounds and two assists. He had a really impressive game against UMass Lowell though, as he had 13 points on 83 percent shooting to go with four assists and three rebounds.

Carton looked like an elite playmaker against UMass Lowell as he had a couple of no-look passes that led to Buckeye scores.

More impressively though, he shot 75 percent from deep as he made three of his four three-point attempts.

This lines up exactly with what 247Sports said about him when he was a recruit.

"Is a good shooter from deep, and has shown improved athleticism. On defense, competes and has solid size for the position. One of the smartest players in the class. Has shown ability to compete against the best and make others better. His intangibles and ability to make plays for others separate him as one of the best floor generals in the class of 2019. Is a borderline first-round NBA draft choice."

If Carton can add scoring, playmaking and shooting to the Buckeyes then this team could be dangerous. Last year’s 20-win team did not have anyone who averaged over four assists per game as C.J. Jackson led the team with 3.5. Additionally, Jackson was probably their best shooter as he made 36.9 percent of threes on nearly five three-point attempts per game.

Next. Controversy builds championship character. dark

I think that Carton can add better shooting and better playmaking than what Jackson did last year based on what he has shown so far. Carton can make this Buckeye team really dangerous. So far he has been as good as advertised.
