The Ohio State football team routed Maryland 73-14 in Columbus on Saturday behind a 700-yard offensive explosion. This season continues to feel special.

The Ohio State football team continues to dominate on a weekly basis after blowing out Maryland 73-14 and we can expect more of the same next week in Piscataway. The Buckeyes may hang 60 in the first half of next week’s game against Rutgers, but regardless it will play out similarly to Saturday’s against Maryland besides surrendering points.

Ryan Day told FOX’s Jenny Taft in a pregame interview that his team’s character would be tested today following the Chase Young situation.

He was correct and the Buckeyes answered the call and passed with flying colors. Ohio State didn’t skip a beat anywhere and it was “next man up” for the Scarlet and Gray.

Zach Harrison (1 sack) performed well as did Tyreke Smith (2 sacks) as they stepped up in the place of Young and the other Buckeye defensive end Jonathan Cooper.

The feel around this team and how special they are together is starting to permeate around the country. The brotherhood and love for each other is the driving force behind their success, much like the group in the improbable 2014 season.

Though this year’s team hasn’t faced much adversity and the 2014 team never stopped, it was a comforting sign to still be able to execute as well as they did without their best player.

Urban Meyer’s team in 2014 was unquestionably the most special in school history, but the 2019 Ryan Day Buckeyes are coming for that title.

The Buckeyes have been the hottest team in the country so far and have shown to be consistent and complete with each coming week. Ohio State has clearly impressed the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, which we’ve seen is paramount over the years, and is on the path to the playoff.

The 2014 team became locked in and laser-focused on the current mission at hand which was the next game. This 2019 squad has been the same way and it has paid dividends so far.

The Buckeyes haven’t accomplished anything yet but have their sights set on big things. Rutgers will be a blowout, but major tests against Penn State for the Big Ten East and The Game in Ann Arbor still loom large.

Ohio State has been firing on all cylinders each and every week and has shown zero signs of weakness. Additionally, the potential of where this team in headed is becoming very real, not only to Buckeye Nation but across the nation as well. The feel of this team is special, much like the one in 2014, but can these Buckeyes also climb to the peak of the college football mountain?
