Former Ohio State football players performing well on a national stage shouldn’t surprise anyone. This week it was a pair of running backs who starred in NFL action.

As far as getting in the endzone goes for former Ohio State football players, it was a quiet week, however, that doesn’t mean they didn’t dominate in some of the other phases of the game.

Here are the top former Buckeye performers in week 9 of the NFL.

Carlos Hyde | 19 attempts, 160 yards

Carlos Hyde may be one of the more surprising players not only between the former Buckeyes but also in the NFL as a whole.

He proved his worth in bunches against a London crowd Sunday morning. Hyde rushed 19 times for 160 yards, averaging a massive 8.4 yards per carry on the day. Like the running back that succeeded him in Columbus though, he wasn’t able to find his way into the endzone to cap off a career day.

Right now, Hyde is No. 8 in the NFL in rushing yards with 704 just behind Ezekiel Elliott who is only two spots ahead of him.

Hyde has proven the ability now to be a workhorse running back and after what was thought of to be a running back by committee situation originally with Duke Johnson being there, Hyde is slowly becoming the feature back in Houston.

That is something pretty crazy to think about considering that just last year at about this time Nick Chubb had stolen his job in Cleveland and he was cut by the Browns.

He was later picked up by the Jaguars but he never found his footing there either. He seems to finally have a solid home in Houston and it will be interesting to see what the team does with Lamar Miller likely coming back to the fold after sustaining a season-ending injury this season.

Before getting to the other star RB let’s look at other Buckeyes who shined last week beginning with a receiver who may be about to break out.
