Ohio State Football: CFP Top 4 correct, pretty fair Top 10
The Ohio State football team was ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll but is at the top of the first CFP rankings. The next three teams deserve their spots as well.
Most reasonable, unbiased fans realized the Ohio State football team should have been ranked No. 1 in the first College Football Playoff rankings. Committee members thought the same thing and filled out the Top 4 with deserving teams as well.
LSU is ranked No. 2 followed by Alabama and Penn State. The Tigers and Nittany Lions have performed well and defeated very good teams, the Tide dominated most of the teams they have played.
You can check out the Top 25 teams in the first College Football Playoff Rankings by clicking on the link, but I want to look at the Top 10 and one other team that could end up in the Final Four.
It’s interesting to note the defending champions are ranked No. 5. Even though the Clemson Tigers are undefeated, apparently their weak schedule was taken into consideration by the committee.
I don’t have a problem with Georgia being ranked No. 6 even a loss to South Carolina. I didn’t like it when Ohio State was automatically eliminated after bad losses each of the last two years even though the Buckeyes won the Big Ten Championship and finished 12-1.
I just hope the committee will give a Mulligan to a team outside of the SEC going forward if they go on to have an outstanding season.
Forget about the Pac 12 not having a team in the mix to make the College Football Playoff, there are two. The committee must have been as impressed as I was watching Oregon (7) and Utah (8) pull off wins over conference foes on the road.
I have a feeling a 12-1 Pac 12 Champion will be in the Final Four.
Oklahoma (9) is definitely in contention to make the playoff but will have to get past Baylor, 8-0 and ranked No. 12. There is a chance one Big 12 team could make a strong push, or both could be eliminated from contention.
It will be interesting to see how the conference race plays out.
No. 10 Florida doesn’t have much of a chance to with the SEC East let alone make the playoff after the loss to Georgia. The Gators have still had a nice season so far though.
Week 11 promises to be a good one. Of course the game of the week is Alabama vs. LSU but Penn State will face undefeated Minnesota as well. It will be interesting to see what next week’s CFP rankings look like.
