With the Ohio State football team having the week off it gave us plenty of time to watch other teams play and determine how they stack up with one another. Here is how I believe these teams shake out.

10.  Minnesota (8-0) Off

All you can do is play who is on your schedule. The Golden Gophers have done this and thus far are undefeated.

Coach P.J. Fleck deserves a ton of credit as he has already built a strong culture in just his second year on the job. Minnesota’s most impressive win so far has been their 34-7 pounding of Nebraska.

Strength of schedule keeps them at 10, but they absolutely control their own destiny if they win out. And that is a big if.

9. Oklahoma (7-1) Off

The Sooners had a great season rolling along until its slip up last week at the hands of Kansas State. Jalen Hurts has come in and done a terrific job keeping up with Oklahoma quarterbacks of the past in Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield.

Not only does he have over 2,400 yards passing but he leads the team in rushing with 801 yards. If the Sooners keep winning and former Buckeye secondary coach Alex Grinch can get this defense back to being respectable, expect them to get back into the CFP discussion.

8.  Baylor (8-0) defeated West Virginia 17-14

The Baylor Bears are another case of just win baby, and that’s what they are doing. A very unimpressive home win against the 3-5 West Virginia Mountaineers is not going to get it done for the College Football Playoff Committee.

However, Baylor does have some nice wins at Kansas State and at Oklahoma State earlier in the season. The Bears will also have their big opportunity to impress the committee when they host Oklahoma on Nov. 16.

7. Oregon (8-1) defeated USC 56-24

The Ducks have won eight games in a row after their six-point loss to Auburn in Week 1. Oregon is clearly one of the top offenses in college football averaging 38.2 points per game and quarterback Justin Herbert is making his case to be a top five NFL draft pick.

After an impressive routing of USC last night, the Ducks have the momentum to be the first PAC 12 team to make the CFP since Washington in 2016.

6. Georgia (7-1) defeated Florida 24-17

Georgia held on Saturday in Jacksonville to beat Florida and save its dreams of playing in another CFP. Yes, UGA lost to a 3-3 South Carolina team at home, but it is the Bulldogs’ strength of schedule that will more than make up for that loss if they win out.

With impressive wins over Notre Dame, Florida, Auburn and a possible SEC Championship game versus an undefeated Alabama or LSU, Georgia has a real shot at securing a top four spot.
