The Ohio State football team is undefeated so far this season. Now, the Buckeyes have a chance to accomplish something no team ever has.

The Ohio State football team is sitting at 8-0 heading into their second bye week of the season and is in prime shape for a berth into the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes do have a tougher slate to end the season though, as compared to the front end of their schedule.

If Ryan Day can keep his team on track they will have the chance to be the first team in college football to accomplish something that’s never been done before.

FOX’s lead CFB analyst Joel Klatt pointed out this statistic on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Wednesday in his weekly interview on the show.

Ohio State and a handful of other teams possess the ability to win nine conference games and a conference championship game this year. No team in the storied history of the sport has ever won 10 conference games in a single season.

However, this year the Big Ten has three potential candidates to do so as Ohio State, Penn State and Minnesota are all undefeated. The PAC-12 has Oregon eligible and the Big 12 has Baylor.

Of course Penn State and Minnesota play each other in two weeks though. Then, the Nittany Lions travel to Columbus two weeks after that so only one team in the Big Ten East will have a shot at going 10-0 in the conference after Nov. 23rd.

Being the first to accomplish this feat won’t be easy for the Buckeyes.

Let’s look at the challenges ahead.
