Ohio State Football: Picking the spread Week 9, big games on tap
The Ohio State football team will face its toughest foe so far and there are other interesting matchups involving Big Ten and SEC teams.
The Ohio State football team will face the wounded Badgers of Wisconsin, Penn State will have a stiff challenge to stay in the Top 10 and Michigan will try to knock a team out of it. There is a huge SEC West game on tap as well.
The other Top 10 teams in the AP Poll should win easily but there have been big upsets lately so you can’t count on that.
I hope I do better than last week as I was 3-5. My record so far this season is now 22-16.
Here we go with Week 9 picks.
Alabama (1) by 32 over Arkansas: Not sure which way to go with this since QB Tua Tagovailoa is injured. Since the Alabama defense isn’t playing at the high level we are used to seeing, I’ll take Arkansas and the points.
LSU (2) by 10.5 over Auburn (9): I am high on Joe Burrow and LSU but I don’t like the spread. I’ll take the points.
Ohio State (3) by 14.5 over Wisconsin (13): The weather is supposed to be nasty and I think that actually favors Ohio State. A wet field actually favors skill position players on offense because they know where the are going and the defenders don’t, and the Buckeyes have talented receivers. I’ll take Ohio State to cover.
Clemson (4) by 35 over Boston College: Clemson has been playing much better but that’s a big spread. I’ll take Boston College and the points.
Oklahoma (5) by 23.5 over Kansas State: The Sooner offense should put up 50 and the defense is playing better. I’ll give the points.
Penn State (6) by 5 over Michigan State: Difficult game to pick as it could come down to a late field goal. I’ll take a chance on Penn State to cover though.
Notre Dame (8) vs. Michigan (19), Pick: It’s interesting this is a pick’em game. No logic here but I think Jim Harbaugh actually pulls off a big win.
Georgia and Florida have the week off to prepare for a big game of their own.
There you have it, Week 9 picks of games involving Top 10 teams. I hope I can get back on a winning track this week.
