The Ohio State football team has a big game with Wisconsin so of course we are rooting for the Buckeyes, but what other teams should fans be rooting for?

There are a few marquee games in college football this week with Ohio State football playing Wisconsin, LSU playing Auburn, Penn State playing Michigan State and Notre Dame playing Michigan.

Clearly us Buckeye fans will be rooting for No. 3 Ohio State to beat No. 13 Wisconsin at noon but who else should we be rooting for in these big games?

No. 2 LSU hosts No. 9 Auburn at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday as it is pretty much the headlining game after Ohio State and Wisconsin. This game should be pretty darn good, but I think we need to root for Auburn.

Yes, I love LSU quarterback Joe Burrow. He is a Buckeye at heart.

He went to Athens High School in Ohio and then of course played at OSU before transferring to LSU. However, I am trying to have the Buckeyes move up in the polls.

If Ohio State wins and then Auburn beats LSU, the Buckeyes should easily move up to No. 2 in the country. It also helps if more top teams like LSU have one loss so Ohio State has some cushion to lose a game, even though I don’t think they will.

So, in that game I am all about Auburn.

Another big game at 3:30 p.m. is No. 6 Penn State versus Michigan State.

This really is not as big as the others with Michigan State being 4-3 and unranked while Penn State is 7-0 and right outside the top five. However, Michigan State still has a rich program and can beat any other Big Ten powerhouse on any given week.

In this game though we need to root for the Nittany Lions.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee is all about strength of schedule. So, could you imagine how big it would be for Ohio State to be 10-0 and to be in the top two or three and for them to beat Penn State who could potentially also be 10-0 and ranked in the top five when they meet on Nov. 23?

That would be a monster game and a monster resume-builder for the Buckeyes so go Nittany Lions this week!

Lastly, we have a big 7:30 p.m. game on ABC between No. 8 Notre Dame and No. 19 Michigan.

This is a big game for both teams as a loss for Michigan would make them 5-3 and would knock them out of the top 25. For Notre Dame, a loss would definitely knock them out of the College Football Playoff picture.

I hate rooting for Michigan, but I think we need to root for the team up north here.

My reasoning? Pretty much the same reason why we need to root for Penn State.

A good Michigan team looks good on Ohio State’s resume if the Buckeyes beat the Wolverines later this season. No, it probably won’t be as impressive as a win over Penn State but a win over a ranked team is still something to brag about on a resume.

Next. Weather to be a factor for OSU-UW. dark

This Saturday should be a pretty exciting college football weekend with some monster games all throughout the day. If you are watching them, be sure to root for Ohio State, Auburn, Penn State and Michigan.
