Ohio State Football: College football mid-season recap
As most college football teams reach the halfway point of their season, we take a look at how Ohio State and everyone else has lived up to expectations.
First, let’s take a look at how the Buckeyes have played and what to expect in the second half.
Led by first-year* head coach Ryan Day, Ohio State has been in control of every game this season, winning each game by 24+. Justin Fields has exceeded expectations, and J.K. Dobbins has once again put up solid numbers without a lot of media hoopla.
Chase Young has led the way for a renewed Silver Bullet defense, and the Buckeyes look to be the most well-rounded team in college football besides maybe LSU.
In the second half, the Buckeyes’ schedule ramps up to the next level, with a road test against a struggling Northwestern before a home match-up with Wisconsin which will determine the front-runner for the Big Ten’s College Football Playoff favorite.
A home game against Maryland and a road game at Rutgers proceed what will be the toughest two-game stretch of the season for the Buckeyes, which includes a home game against Penn State and The Game against Michigan in Ann Arbor to conclude the season. If the Buckeyes continue to play as they have so far, they could be undefeated heading into Indianapolis on December 7.
Before I get to surprising teams and ones that have had disappointing seasons, here is a look at how I thought the Top 25 would look at the end of the season.
