Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has brought in great coaches, recruited well and his team is 4-0 so far. Now he appears to have his redshirt situation down pat.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day discussed his plans as to freshmen he plans to burn the redshirt on and others he may do so as well. It would appear as though he has a good plan with the new redshirt rule.

During his appearance this week on the Buckeye Roundtable coach Day said those who have played all four games so far are likely to contribute the rest of the way and some who have played in three games may as well.

Let’s look at the players mentioned by the Buckeye head coach as reported in an article by Dave Biddle of 247Sports.

First, I’ll look at three guys most thought would play as true freshmen. Many expect the first two will only be wearing Scarlet and Gray for three years so why waste one.

Garrett Wilson: This young WR has impressed coaches and players since he stepped on campus as an early enrollee in January. It was widely reported he was making “wow catches” in the spring.

Fans then got to see one during the Ohio State Spring Game. Through four games he has caught 7 passes for 71 yards and returned a punt for 52. Can you say future All-American?

Zach Harrison: Ranked as the 2nd best SDE and the No. 12 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class most expected Harrison to see the field as a true freshman. With his speed and athleticism he reminds me of Chase Young two years ago.

Harry Miller: Even though Miller didn’t enroll until June many thought the No. 1 ranked center could earn the backup job and last year’s top center Matthew Jones may be moved to guard. They were correct and that has certainly improved the depth on the offensive line.

The other players are an interesting bunch.
