Ohio State and college football fans alike can finally celebrate with teams about to return to the gridiron. As the season arrives, we will take a look at what to expect.

Kickoff in Orlando is only three days away between the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes, while most other teams will kickoff one week later.

This season, many teams will have heightened expectations to live up to. Some teams will simply reach those goals, while others will fall short and disappoint their fans.

However, other teams will surpass the goals that are set before them by coaches and soar past the boundaries set by the media.

Two teams in particular have the blessing (and curse) of being shoe-ins to reach the CFP.  Alabama and Clemson, led by Heisman-favorites Tua Tagoviola and Trevor Lawrence, are projected to lose no more than 1 game.

The blessing is that they are both so highly regarded that these expectations are practically set in stone, but any fall-off or shortcoming would cause a media frenzy.

Other teams like Rutgers or Kansas, even under 1-time National Champion Les Miles, will simply aim to win a couple of conference games en route to a 3-9 or 4-8 record.

Many teams fall in the middle, with the hope to make a bowl game and compete in their conference division, while teams like Ohio StateOklahoma and Georgia are expected to once again be in the Playoff picture at season’s end.

For these teams, a second loss or even one bad loss (Ohio State 2018 at Purdue) will leave fans dejected and looking for more as they drop like an anvil out of the race for the CFP.

Upsets will happen every week, and the Playoff picture will change constantly. Will teams like Oregon or LSU find themselves in the Final Four, or will we see Michigan finally live up to their lofty expectations and prove the preseason voters right?

Can Ryan Day lead the Scarlet and Gray to a playoff-worthy season behind his number 2s, J.K. Dobbins and Chase Young?
